About Marguerite Henry

Marguerite Henry (1902-1997) was an American author best known for her children's books about horses. Her books have sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 20 languages.

Henry was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up on a farm. She began writing stories about horses at a young age, and her first book, Justin Morgan Had a Horse, was published in 1945.

Henry's books are known for their accuracy, their vivid descriptions of horse behavior, and their heartwarming stories. She often worked with experts to ensure that her books were as accurate as possible, and she spent many hours observing horses in their natural environment.
